AI is changing the rules of the game in the job market
We observe a paradox and an interesting sociological phenomenon in the job market. People are inherently lazy, meaning they are happy to delegate repetitive tasks. They prefer to rest or develop themselves, use their creativity, and generate ideas. And now is the perfect opportunity for this. AI can replace humans in performing less demanding tasks. What's more, it can analyze, solve advanced problems, integrate systems, and work as an assistant, tutor, or analyst. And when we have a great opportunity to acquire new skills and develop, we start to fear and protest. We see new technologies as an obstacle instead of the future, we fear that some professions will disappear, even if they were reluctantly performed by humans. The upcoming changes in the job market raise concerns about the future and jobs.
Which professions will artificial intelligence replace?
Has anyone already created a list of professions that will be replaced by artificial intelligence? The development of AI technology is so rapid that it is difficult to predict today how AI will affect the job market, what AI can replace, and what new jobs will be created. Analytical professions, creative professions? Will a graphic designer be needed if MidJourney creates an infinite number of graphics for $30USD per month? Will a programmer be needed if chatGPT can write code? Will a radiologist be needed if AI tools can describe X-rays with greater accuracy? Will there be a place and demand for the content I write if Claude or Copilot can do it much faster? In my opinion, yes - a graphic designer, radiologist, or publicist will still be needed. Only the nature of their work will change. Artificial intelligence in many areas is fully autonomous and has already eliminated humans, or rather relieved them of certain tasks. But many areas are and will be based on cooperation.
As a matter of interest, here are a few examples of full automation already introduced in factories in Asia.
EBARA has a fully automated production process. No lighting or air conditioning is needed because there are only robots on the production floor.
FANUC - another example of a factory where the demand for people performing manual labor is practically zero.
These two examples perfectly illustrate how AI affects the labor market and how AI-based systems can relieve humans of tasks.
INSIGHT BOX – What do the data say?
McKinsey Global Institute (2025):
By 2030, automation and the development of artificial intelligence will change the nature of work for as many as 800 million people worldwide.
Routine office tasks are disappearing fastest, but the demand for analytical, technological, and creative skills is growing. In short: AI will not only replace some professions – it will redefine the concept of work.
Professions most at risk from automation
The professions most at risk from automation are those dominated by repetitive and predictable tasks. Artificial intelligence and robots are increasingly effectively replacing employees in areas such as customer service, office administration, and logistics. According to analyses by McKinsey and PwC, cashier, office assistant, driver, and data analyst positions are particularly vulnerable. However, automation does not mean the end of these professions — many of them are transforming, requiring employees to acquire new digital and analytical skills.
Professions that AI will not replace – but rather enhance
Not all professions are threatened by artificial intelligence – in many industries, AI becomes support, not competition. In sectors requiring creativity, empathy, and communication, such as consulting, education, or HR, technology enhances experts instead of replacing them. Professions related to leadership, strategy, and interpersonal relationships still rely on emotional intelligence, which AI cannot fully replicate. AI will not replace touch, a smile, empathy, or compassion. Those who can combine expert knowledge with the use of technology gain an advantage. That's why the future of work is not competition with AI, but cooperation between humans and machines.
New professions in the AI era – jobs that didn't exist before
Instead of a personal trainer, we have an AI model trainer; instead of a construction engineer, prompt engineers are sought after; and a business ethics specialist is replaced by an algorithm ethics specialist. As you can see, nothing is lost in nature because there will always be a need for a human who can ultimately solve problems that AI cannot handle. Artificial intelligence will replace some professions while creating new ones. Because no matter what, there is one area where AI will not replace us – it will not take responsibility for humans. It can calculate, analyze data, and even make decisions and perform tasks. But AI cannot take responsibility for us.
How to prepare for the impact of artificial intelligence on the labor market
Don't stand still. Regardless of whether your job can be based on artificial intelligence, whether you believe that your skills and abilities cannot be replaced by machines, and that AI is just a temporary fad and not the future – learn.
Collaboration between humans and AI is the future, not a threat
Artificial intelligence is not a threat to the labor market – it is a catalyst and somewhat a natural element of transformation. Technical and creative professions will gain new tools, and many repetitive and monotonous tasks will be taken over by algorithms.
Companies that learn to combine human knowledge with AI capabilities will adapt to changes faster and gain an advantage. For employees, this is a time to invest in development – especially in analytical, communication, and strategic skills.
The future of work in the AI era does not belong to those who can do everything themselves. It belongs to those who can collaborate with technology.
